He was predeceased by: his parents, Elsie Compton and William Arthur Compton; his wife Dr. Norma Vickers Compton; his sister Niva Lancaster; and his grandson Jay Compton.

He is survived by: his sons, Ken Compton of Conway, Arkansas, Kevin Compton of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Kris Compton of Asheville; his daughters-in-law, Karen Compton, Dana Compton and Debra Compton; and his grandchildren, Lauren Hum of Conway, Catie Halac of Longmont, Kylan Compton of Haskell and Callahan Reagan of Haskell, Arkansas. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Perfectly Loved Transitional Living Center or Alzheimer's Arkansas.
