He is survived by: his wife Olema Robertson Willson; his children, Bobby Joe Willson (Brenda) of Ozark and Robin James (Barry) of Mulberry; his brother William Willson of Mulberry; his grandchildren, Stephanie Bowles (David) of Ozark, Christy Withem (Matt) of Mulberry, Caitlin McClellan (Landon) of Ozark and Dylan James of Mulberry; his stepgrandsons, Jacy of Kansas, Cody of Kansas and Ben James of Kansas; and his grandsons, Andrew Smith, Steven Bowles, David Bowles Jr., Matt Withem and Landon McClellan. He is also survived by six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 25th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Shaffer Funeral Home (2315 W Commercial St, Ozark, AR 72949). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 25th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, April 25th 2026 at the Hight Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested for donations to be made in Joe's memory to Mt. Zion Regular Baptist Church 8115 Old Highway Mulberry, Arkansas 72947.
