He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert G. Gerdes and Florence E. Whitmore Gerdes; his former wife Natalie Gerdes; and his son Gregory Gerdes. He is survived by: his wife Sue Harmon McCain-Gerdes; his children, Anne Perryman (Mike Jordan) of Louisville, Kentucky and Mike Gerdes (Sally) of Mosely, Virginia; his grandsons, Gordon "Mack" McCain (Lenora) of Mulberry, Christopher McCain (Jeanette) of Mulberry and Jonathan McCain (Christine) of Mulberry; his brother Steven Gerdes (Linda) of Montana; his grandchildren, Kelly Perryman, Ray Perryman, Alex Gerdes, Holly Lindberg, Presley Embrey, Crayton McCain, Will McCain, Emmrie Foerster, Colin McCain and Carter Glidewell; and his great grandchildren, Jayse Perryman, Eli Gerdes, Declan Gerdes, Ainsley Gerdes, Natalie Lindberg and Hank Lindberg. He is also survived by great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, August 14th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Rehobeth Missionary Baptist Church (3032 Wire Rd, Ozark, AR 72949).
