He was predeceased by: his parents, Velma Elizabeth Granberry and Herman Conrad Arendt; his wife Barbara A. Arendt; and his brother Conrad Arendt. He is survived by: his children, William E Arendt Jr. (Rossana), Stephen Mark Arendt (Gina) and Janet Arendt Hicks; his grandchildren, Gigi Sanders (Joel), Jonathan Hicks, Justin Hicks, Christi Lentz (Matt), Jenny Fletcher (Steven), Mark Arendt, Annie Cuervo (Daniel) and William "Billy" E Arendt III (Ali); and his great grandchildren, Isaac, Teresa, Peter, Hannah, Ruth Sanders, Madison, Amelia, Caroline Lentz, Natalie, Isabelle Cuervo, Beckett, Gunner and Asher Fletcher. He is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
