He was predeceased by : his parents, Lee Nichols and Ethel Blaylock Nichols; his daughter Elizabeth Ann Nichols; and his sisters, Mary Aldridge, Maxine Sharp, Eveline Wiley Nichols, Aldine Nichols, Kathreen Wilson, Betty Duke, Nova Reid, Robby Faye Nichols and Mauveline Edgar.

He is survived by : his wife Janette Nichols; his daughters, Carol Herron (Ronnie) of Rosa and Michelle Shepperson (Archie) of Osceola; his brothers, Ray Nichols of Osceola and Kenneth Nichols of Millington, TN; his grandchildren, Gary Shepperson (April), Bethany Moore of Osceola, Destiny Standefer (Tyler) of Farmington and Blake Morris of Bryant; and his great grandchildren, Zoey, Arie and Krislea.
