For Vernon is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon McDaniel Sr. and Barbara McDaniel; and his sister Barbara Ann McDaniel. He is survived by: William Brian Black of El Dorado, Robert R. Black III of El Dorado and Robert R. Black Jr. of El Dorado.
Through the Methodist Foundation for Arkansas—who fondly named him "Mr. Ozark"—he supported initiatives that strengthened Methodist ministries statewide.
