He was predeceased by: his parents, George Newman and Sarah Newman; his siblings, George Dale Newman, Kenneth Newman, Bill Newman, Jim Newman, Brenda Kay McEntyre, Donna Sue Mullins and Polly Holder; and his grandsons, Jonathan Slayton and Tyler Slayton.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Newman; his children, Donald Trevor Newman, Theresa Jean Newman and Cindy Carol Noel Newman; his siblings, Gwen Ray (Marlen) and Rick Newman; and his grandchildren, Zane Hurt, Whitley Newman, Trent Slayton (Amanda), Letishia Risinger, Crystal Gatlin and Hunter Noel. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
