He was predeceased by : his parents, Glennis Hays and Betty Hays; his wife Betty Hays; his sons, Robert Long, Gary Long and Mike Long; his granddaughter Jennifer Ward; and his brother Dick Hays.

He is survived by : his daughter Susan Gramling; his grandchildren, Jamie Moss-Rickey, Nikki Houston, Jeremy Long, Trevor Gramling, Chelsea Long-Lehman, Ben Gramling and Michael Robert Long; and his nephew Dicky Bob Hays. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
