She was predeceased by: her parents, James Ivory Mitchell and Alice Vester Shuler Benson; and her brother Leroy Benson. She is survived by: her husband Theodis LaGrone, Sr.; her children, Theodis LaGrone, Jr., Mitchell LaGrone, Sr. (Martha), Aaron LaGrone (Stacie), Alice Iseghohimen (Matthew), Beverly Wooten (Bernard, Sr.), Marcelline Williams (Larry), Monya LaGrone, Tammy Brown (Carlos), Somer Pridgeon (Quincy) and Keshia Morris (Demetrius); her godchildren, Yvonne Berko (Oesei) and Warren Booker, Jr.; her grandchildren, Raven, Kanisher, Amber, Martoya, Eenleshe, Tatyana, Nuveen, Vidal, Aquavia, Mitchell, Jr., Bernard, Jr., Aaron Ryan, Thaddeus, Larry David, Lance, Lauren, Blake, Ephesians, Mercedez, Christina, Montrina, Kaitlyn and London Grace; and her brothers, Thomas Benson and Andre Benson. She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In response, she founded the United Christian Alliance Foundation, granting numerous scholarships to deserving recipients.
