He was predeceased by: his parents, Viola Neal and Tim Burt; his spouse Dorris Chapman Burt; his sisters, Jewellen Neal and Jessie Lee Neal; and his grandson Jarrell Harden.

He is survived by: his children, Gerone McDonald (Keresha) of Star City, AR, LaMel Burt (Tina) of Little Rock, AR, Dr. Rodney Burt (Janice) of Nashville, TN and Kevin Burt of Pine Bluff, AR; his grandchildren, Chelsea, Alexander, Christopher, Madison, Peyton, TeErrica, Sabrena, Kenyon, Gerone, Jr., Jaida, Leotis, Kenyatta, Octavian and Kevin Jr.; his brothers-in-law, Andrew Chapman, Sr. and Charles Harris; his cousins, Willie Everett, Jacqueline Townsend and Roger Edwards; and his close friend Lois Reed. He is also survived by 30 great grandchildren.
