Grace Lee Shaw Obituary
Grace Lee (Waddy) Shaw was born July 12, 1964, in Star City, Arkansas to the late Willie and Mary (Charles) Waddy, Sr. She was the 6th of 10 children. She grew up running the fields of Tarry, Arkansas, and was much loved by family and friends.
GRACE was a homemaker most of her life: she more than enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and caring for others, she absolutely loved to do it. These were indeed her ULTIMATE LANGUAGE (s) OF LOVE. She loved music & loved to sing: you would often times catch her humming a tune as she went about her daily routine.
GRACE accepted & confessed her hope in Christ at an early age: she was baptized (along with her siblings) at First Missionary Baptist Church (on 2nd St at the time) under the leadership of Rev. M Williams, before becoming a member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. I.S. Mays. Palestine is where her beautiful gift of song began to bloom & also the place where life-long family and connections were established. She married William Andrew Shaw, Jr. in May of 1984: a union from which 4 beautiful children, who remained her lifeline and the beat of her heart until death, were birthed.
GRACE welcomed her eternal rest on March 7, 2024: she is preceded in death by her parents Willie Waddy, Sr. and Mary Waddy (whom she affectionately called Madea); two brothers Alvin B. Waddy and Sylvester B. Waddy; 2 nephews, Sylvester B. Waddy, Jr. & Sammie Waddy, Jr.; two beloved nieces Rosalyn (Williams) Savage and Samantha Faye Bass; one Great Granddaughter, Kyler Darrough & a number of aunts, uncles, cousins & other loved ones.
GRACE leaves to cherish her memories 2 daughters, Gekisha L. Shaw of North Little Rock, AR and Crystal (DeAndre) Shaw-Kentle of Pine Bluff, AR; 2 sons, William (Corrida) Shaw, III of Pine Bluff, AR and Donald (Terrica) Shaw of Alexander, AR, as well as, a bonus daughter Terrian (Bernard) Haynes-Owens of Alexander, AR; 3 sisters, Rutha Mae Williams of Tarry, AR, Azzie Lee Waddy, and Linda (Keith) Savage of Pine Bluff, AR; 4 brothers, Joseph Ford, Sr. of Arlington, TX, Theodis Whitfield, Willie Waddy, Jr, & Sammie Waddy, Sr. of Pine Bluff, AR. 11 grandchildren (Serenity White, Dallis White, Ky'Juan Kentle, Parker Richard, Cikiya White, Cadiryus White, & Corea White of Pine Bluff, AR; Wyland Bolen, Jr. of Overland Park, KS; Aidyn Shaw-Vernon of San Antonio, TX; Carson Thomas, & Donald Shaw, Jr. of Alexander, AR); a bonus granddaughter Madison Jackson; a Great Granddaughter, Karli Darrough; life partner Terry Phillips of Pine Bluff, AR & a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends whom she loved dearly.
A service celebrating the life of our queen will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Highland Ministries with Minister Reggie Cole Eulogist. Interment will be in Bright Star Cemetery by Paradise Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.
Visitation will be Friday, March 15, 2024, from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm at Paradise Funeral Home.
