He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Faye McClain and Thelma Stewart McClain; his wife Joyce Newton McClain; his daughter Jana Hodges DeHart; and his siblings, Daymon, Willie Frank, Scottie McClain and Wanda McClain Miller.
He is survived by: his sons, Don McClain (Denise) and Gary McClain (Kandy); and his sister Donnie Faye Batchelor. He is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
