He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lewis Sanders Sr. and Hazel Christine Sanders; and his siblings, William Lewis Sanders Jr, Steve Allen Sanders and Sheila Sanders.

He is survived by: his children, Joe Sanders and Angie Sanders; his sister-in-law Barbara Sanders; and his niece Lora Greenwood. He is also survived by four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
