He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Presley Smithey and Carrie Foreman Smithey; his son Mark Edward Smithey; his grandson Dakota Smithey; his siblings, Claud Lamar Smithey, Norma Jean Smithey and Brenda Smithey Hunter; and his former wife Thurley Smithey.
He is survived by: his son Carl Wayne Smithey; his sister Mildred Miller; and his grandson Mitchell Smithey. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
