Howard Smith Crosby Jr. Obituary
Howard Smith Crosby Jr, 75, of Sherrill, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, August 8, 2026. He was born November 10, 1950 in Clarendon to Howard Smith Crosby Sr. and Virginia Crosby.
Howard was raised and educated in Clarendon spending most of his time on the White River, one of twelve children. He was US Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from 1969-1971. Howard then worked for 34 years for the US Post Office, first at the 8th Street Pine Bluff branch for many years, then at the front desk of the White Hall branch until his retirement. He loved hunting and was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Howard also helped to start the Sherrill Volunteer Fire Department by organizing and running fundraisers. He was a loving father and grandfather, but was also very competitive and loved to show off by playing pool.
Survivors include his wife, Genine Farmer Crosby, whom he married January 19, 1980 in Clarendon; children, Catrina Sullivan, Howard Crosby III, Daniel Vent (Julie), Elizabeth Phillips and Joshua Crosby (Amanda); grandchildren, Caden Phillips, Tanner Phillips, Bennett Johnson, Dylan Taylor, Landon Crosby, Lily Crosby, Kameron Edwards, Shana Childress, Lillian Sullivan and Zeta Vent; great grandchild, Archie Edwards; brothers, Steve Crosby and Johnny Crosby; and sisters, Mary Senter, Thelda Brockington, Linda Manis and Marsha Kitterman.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Larry Crosby, Jhery Crosby, Ronnie Crosby and Mark Crosby; and sister, Patsy Dowdy.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Robinson & Fuller White Hall Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday, 10:00 AM until funeral time. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery in Clarendon.
