He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Daniel Ruf and Atheis Ruf; his stepfather Glenn Dupler; and his father-in-law Tom Highfill. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Kay Highfill Trapp; his son Jacob Daniel Thomas Trapp; his parent Judy Ruf Dupler; his siblings, Bryan Trapp (Misti) and Amy Brown (Tom); his stepsiblings, Stacy Dupler and Michael Dupler; his nieces and nephews, Addie (Johnny), Tyler, Colton, Carson, Christopher (Johanna), Ashleigh (Daniel), Robbie Rae and Rebekah (Joshua); his mother-in-law Beverly Highfill; and his sister-in-law Dorene Highfill-Holmes.
