He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Gatewood and Kari Ontis Gatewood; and his half-sister Tiphanie Gatewood. He is survived by: his brothers, James "Rett" and Jeb Gatewood; his grandparents, Earl and Saralyn Ontis; his half-siblings, Katina Buff (Joseph), Cheri Gatewood (Andrew) and Andrew Gatewood (Katie); his aunt Kristan Ontis Zargari (Pete); his cousins, Sam, Max, Beatrice and Adelade; and his uncle James Gatewood. He is also survived by his brothers, grandparents, extended family.
In fact, Alec was part of a select few chosen to attend NYU Shanghai but was unable to go due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
