He was predeceased by : his parents, James Butler and Vada Butler; his brother James Hubert McAteer; his sister-in-law Freida of Columbus, OH; his brother Tommy Butler of Sparkman; and his wife Cindy.

He is survived by : his siblings, Kenneth Butler (Grace) of Camden, Jimmy Butler (Judy) of Joan, Roy Butler (Cathy) of Sparkman, Esther Glasscock (Glenn) of Harmony Grove and Martha Shaddock-Cannon (Rickey) of Sparkman; and his nephew Scotty Butler.
