He was predeceased by: his parents, Duail Owens and Carnell Owens; and his sister Jeanette Owens Shackelford. He is survived by: his wife Sheila Owens; his sons, Jeffrey Owens (Melissa) of Hope and Mark Edward Owens of Lewisville, Arkansas; and his sister Barbara Turner (Jim) of Blanchard, Louisiana. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
