He was predeceased by : his father Charles Whitley. He is survived by : his wife Marie Samuels Whitley of Texarkana, Arkansas; his mother Bernice Ford Whitley of Texarkana; his children, James Whitley (Melaina) of Bryant, Jessica Miller (Shane) of Simms, Jennifer Dycus (James) of Texarkana and Jamie Story (Christina) of Texarkana, Texas; his brother Johnny; his sister-in-law Darlene Whitley of Maud, Texas; and his sister Melissa Moore of Texarkana, Texas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; one great grandchild and numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 6th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Texarkana Funeral Home Arkansas Chapel (4801 Loop 245, Texarkana, AR 71854). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
