He was predeceased by : his parents, Jasper Townsend and Marzelle Townsend; his grandparents, Woodrow and Aurilla Sams; his brothers, Larry (Sue Townsend) and Terry Townsend; and his nephew Justin Townsend.

He is survived by : his daughters, Amy (Jeff Jewell) and Melissa (Wes Pounds); his brother Johnny; his sister-in-law Dellamae Townsend of Genoa, Arkansas; and his grandchildren, Noah Jewell, Zach Harris, Davis Pounds and Lexie Pounds.
