With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jean Thomas of West Helena, Arkansas, born in Helena, Arkansas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 1, 2025 at the age of 86. She was predeceased by: her husband Luther Leon Thomas; her parents, Allie Julia and Spurgeon Taylor; and her brothers, Henry, Sylvester, Enes and Aldridge Taylor.
She is survived by: her sisters, Joan Taylor Sims, Carolyn Spann and Mary Francis Durden; her son Bryant Haynes Thomas (Thurma) of Biloxi, MS; and her grandchildren, Courtney Tate, Nakelia Robinson, Kanittha Thomas, James Tate Jr., Jason Tate, Marcus Tate, Demarcus Tate, Shondolyn Villacis (Edward), Tiffany Tate, Carlisa Scott, Chandria Scott, Xavier Thomas, Capri Haynes, Christa Podojil, Breanna Scott, Christa Haynes, Regine Scott and Natasha Tate. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (125 N Coanza, West Helena, AR 72390). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at the Sunset Memorial Park (5741 US 49, West Helena, AR 72312).
