He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Smith (Hill); his children, Kerrie, Kyle and Spencer Smith; and his grandchildren, Kassie McKiness Mares, Rebecca McKiness Storch, Kristen McKiness, Sarah Smith, Matthew Smith, Rose Smith Marion, Mason Sampson Smith, Carolyn Smith, Kenneth Smith, Jacob Smith, Steven Smith and Greta Smith. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
