It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sylvia La Rue Shorter of Wilmar, Arkansas, who passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Arton Ragland, Sr. and Eulelia Ragland; her siblings, Otis McNealy, Clamie C. Herman, Warren G. Ragland, Arton Ragland, Jr., Kenneth Ragland, Jeannette Ragland, Annette Ridgell, Evelyn Jackson, Barbara Ragland, Jimmie Jerman and Margalene Bankhead; and her children, Audrey Lucas and Lawrence Shorter.
She is survived by: her children, Grindl Mosby (Charles) of Wilmar, Melissa Gordon (Carl) of Cincinnati, OH and Dominique Rhodes of Wilmar; her stepdaughter Abagail Spencer of Cornerville, AR; her children-in-law, Terry Lucas of Wilmar and Judy Shorter of Monticello; her sisters-in-law, Carol Herman of Wilmar, Bertha Ragland of Los Angeles, CA, Patricia Green of Detroit, MI and Barbara Gray of White Hall, AR; her grandchildren, Lakie Davis of Wilmar, Tasha Lewis of Cornerville, Mario Tatum, Micala Reese of Cincinnati, OH and Eiza Vazquez of Virginia Beach, VA; her great grandchildren, A'Zaryah Tatum, Omari Tatum, Kayden Bradley of Cincinnati, OH, Dee Spencer of Cornerville, LaKia'h Davis and Ny'Asia Halsell of Wilmar; her cousin Berdie Lee Jarmon (Snook) of Detroit, MI; and her friends, Jack Douglas of Monticello and John "Skin" Hammock of Wilmar.
