He is survived by: his wife Jo Best Diebold; his daughters, Libby Davis (Scott) and Laura Covington (Hughes); his sister Thelma "Doll" Johncox; and his grandchildren, Jackson Diebold (Shelby), Barrett Diebold, Wally Davis (Kaylee), Wyatt Davis, Ella Claire Ward (Caleb) and Leslie Covington (McKenna). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
