Michael James Persky Obituary
Michael James Persky, 45, of Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Michael was born in Morenci, Arizona, to Kenneth and Linda (Lay) Persky on April 7, 1981. He was the youngest of four children.
Michael enjoyed life and had a natural curiosity about how things worked. He loved to tinker with just about anything he could get his hands on. It was often said that whenever Michael took something apart, there were sure to be all kinds of extra pieces when he was finished. He loved to laugh and had a way of bringing laughter to those around him. Michael was also someone who was always willing to lend a hand. If someone needed help, he was there, often without hesitation or expecting anything in return. His generous heart and willingness to help others will be deeply missed.
As the youngest brother, Michael always looked up to his brother David. The two shared many childhood adventures together—playing games, wrestling, camping in the backyard, and finding all kinds of ways to get into a little trouble. One of their favorite memories was starting a fire in the tall grass in the backyard. When asked why they were burning the weeds, they responded that they were cold and didn't want to get too hot by putting their coats on.
Michael loved spending time with his family and friends, but his greatest joy was being with his daughter, Heaven. The love he had for her was immeasurable, and the time they shared together was precious to him.
Michael also enjoyed watching sports, and he especially loved watching the Arizona Cardinals play. Whether spending time with family, watching a game, working on one of his latest projects, or simply enjoying a good laugh, Michael found joy in the simple moments of life.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Persky, and his sister, Elizabeth.
He is survived by his mother, Linda Persky of South Bend, Indiana; his beloved daughter, Heaven Cannaday of Casa Grande, Arizona; his sister, Teri (Chris) Harman of South Bend, Indiana; and his brother, David (Carly) Persky of Edgewood, Washington. He is also survived by six nieces, one nephew, four great-nieces, and three great-nephews, along with many family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Michael will be deeply missed and remembered for his laughter, his kind heart, his willingness to help others, his adventurous spirit, and the love he shared with his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1555 N. Colorado St., Casa Grande, AZ 85122.
