He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Nickel and Lois Nickel; and his brothers, Jerry, Dennis and Tim.
He is survived by: his wife Jan Pagel Nickel; his children, Jeff Nickel (Wendy) and Jody Sims (Jeff); his grandchildren, Carter Luko (Monica) and Ron Luko; and his stepsons, Ben Costa (Tracy) and Joel Costa.
