He was predeceased by: his parents, James Benjamin Whitmer Sr. and Ruth Cheney Whitmer; and his brother Cordell Whitmer. He is survived by: his wife Beckie; and his children, Kent Whitmer (Kimberly), Bret Whitmer (Lisa), Kristi Anderson (Lars), Mendy Smith (Neil), Jenifer Jackson (Garrett), Shara Garrett (John) and Dane Whitmer (Rachael). He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, and one great grandson.
