Charles Mark Nelinson Obituary
Mark Charles Nelinson passed away at the home he shared with his wife Diana on December 7, 2018.
Mark grew up in New Jersey, the son of Ephraim and Geri Nelinson along with his sister Sari. He graduated from Waldwick HS in 1967 and went on to Boston University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science. Mark graduated from Rutgers Law School and was admitted to the NJ bar in 1974.
Mark met Diana Fray in his final year of law school on a blind date and were married a year later. Their son David Morris followed in 1977.
His work took the family to Chicago and ultimately to St. Louis, where his daughter Adrienne Rose, was born in 1989.
He loved being a father and was heavily involved in their activities such as sports, Boy Scouts and Indian Princesses.
Mark continued to excel in his 35-year career with Safeco Insurance where he ultimately became the lead litigator.
In the summer of 2007 Mark and Diana retired to Chandler, Arizona where he continued to be a leader in his community. He was always a voracious reader, and shared his love of reading as a tutor for underserved children with the Experience Corps though the AARP. Additionally, Mark served as Vice President of the Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation.
He was an avid golfer throughout his life, beginning from his days as a caddy at Ridgewood Country Club. One of the highlights of his year was golfing with his son in the Duffers Invitational in Florida. He also loved playing poker, trivia, and most of all he enjoyed being with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Nelinson, sister Sari Nelinson, daughter Adrienne Nelinson, son David Hills-Nelinson, and daughter-in-law Susannah Hills-Nelinson. Mark will be remembered by his kindness, intelligence and diligence. He will be tremendously missed by his family, friends and community.
Funeral Services will be held at 10am at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ 85248. Graveside burial to follow at 10:30am. Immediately following, the family invites all to their home at 24505 Lakestar Drive, Chandler, AZ. Shiva will be sat 6:00pm to 8:30pm Sunday through Wednesday evening at their home with Kaddish reading at 7pm.
