He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Clifford Brooks and Bessie Nora Johnson; and his brother Victor "Luke" Brooks. He is survived by: his son Jason Burgess (Holly); his grandsons, Marcus Callahan, Jacob Burgess and Bentley Burgess; his siblings, Clarence Brooks and Shelia Selby; his siblings' children, David Selby, Brynn Brooks and Michelle McManaway; and his pet Sheba.
