He was predeceased by: his mother Ann Smart; his grandsons, Joshua and Darek; and his brother Charles Smart. He is survived by: his children, Hoyt Smart III (Sheila) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Denise Barlow (Jim) of Gilbert and Lisa Bailey (Chris) of Eugene, Oregon; his grandchildren, Stephen, Tara, Wyatt, Niki and Cody; and his sisters, Doris Beard of Illinois and Brenda Duhon of Louisiana. He is also survived by several nephews and a niece.
