He was predeceased by: his daughter Amy Waggoner; his parents, Rose Hennessey and Joseph M. Hennessey; and his sister Madonna Strawbridge. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Hennessey; his children, Kathy Travis (Steven) and Kevin Hennessey (Lorie); his grandchildren, Ashley (John), Dylan, Cayden, Ethan and Erin; his great grandchildren, Sophie and Ellie; and his siblings, Michaelle Peirce and Dennis Hennessey.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Bring Change to Mind in memory of Joe Hennessey.
