William J. Sweeney Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William J. Sweeney of Gilbert, Arizona, born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on July 23, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Marge; his parents, Julia Sweeney and William Sweeney; his siblings, John Sweeney (Jack), Ed Sweeney and Theresa Parker-Sweeney; and his stepsister Pat Appleton.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Lilley (Bob), Maureen Norton, Patty Morris (Stan), Peggy Guinn (Joe), Bill Sweeney (Carol), John Sweeney and Rob Sweeney (Kecia); and his half-sister Mary Ann Noonan (George). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Catholic Charities of Arizona (catholiccharitiesaz.org) or the St. Vincent de Paul Society (stvincentdepaul.net) in Bill's honor.
