He was predeceased by: his mother Ruth Esse. He is survived by: his father George Esse; his brother John (Dorothy); his children, Elizabeth, David (Chandra McGee) and Erik (Adair Rounthwaite Esse); his grandchildren, August, Gustav, Ruth and Olav; and his siblings-in-law, Jean Swiggum, Joan Gillespie, Tami Nesheim and David Nesheim. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
