She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruby Irene McDonald and Thomas Richard Layden. She is survived by: her husband Joseph Victor "Sonny" Gerwitz; her siblings, Donald Layden, Layden Hatch, Mary Kathleen Layden, Ericka White (Jimmy) and Thomas Commons; and her children, Mary Martinez (Joey), LaMerle Martinez (Gene), John Gerwitz (Doris) and Martin Gerwitz (Judine). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews and their children.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 11th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Holbrook LDS Stake Center (1127 Helen Ave, Holbrook, AZ 86025). A funeral service was held on Monday, August 11th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
