He was predeceased by : his parents, William H. Smith and Florence Smith (Sparks); his wife Carol Smith (Gildea); his siblings, Wanda King (Smith), Betty Snyder (Smith), Margaret "Peg" Barnett, Charles Smith and Allen Smith; and his children, Gary Carl, Don Carl and Nancy Lafferty.

He is survived by : his former life partner Edna Smith (Hiles); his son Kelly Smith (Bobby); his grandchildren, Dylan, Blaine, Jonah, Thomas, Aidan Smith, Jamie Deibler, James Lafferty, Alexis Black, Skylar Carl, Jessa Carl, Hahli Carl, Helena Carl, Xander Dominic Carl and Trenton Lafferty; and his great grandchildren, Jackson Deibler, Ronan, Lucan Black and Declan Dominic Carl. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“Archie was a great man of God and a wonderful Youth camp counselor in my younger years. Many memories are held dearly and I know you are so happy to see Carol again! You both showed so much love and kindness and there will never be enough words to explain your friendship!
