Andrew William Sandkamp Obituary
Andrew William Sandkamp, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on April 22nd, 2026 in Arizona.
Drew, as everyone knew him, was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Ronald Sandkamp and Judy Kuehl. From an early age, he developed an unwavering love for the outdoors. As a child, when he was not playing football or baseball, he could usually be found fishing, hunting, or spending time outside.
He discovered a passion for carpentry at a young age, which grew into a remarkable eye for craftsmanship. Drew had the rare ability to walk into a room and notice if a step, beam, or detail was even half an inch off. If something needed fixing, he could fix it. If it could be improved, he always had a vision for it—often one that no one else could see until he brought it to life.
Fishing and hunting were more than hobbies to Drew; they were part of who he was. Whether in Iowa or Arizona, he found peace and purpose outdoors. In Iowa, he was an avid Waterfowl and Landfowl hunter, with a specific love for duck hunting. In Arizona, you could find Drew on his beloved Bullet Bass Boat, with his dog by his side. His dogs were never far from him, always ready to retrieve ducks, follow him to the water, or sneak a lick at a monster bass.
Drew had a gift for making friends wherever he went. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and always had enough jokes to bring a smile to those around him. He was deeply loved by many and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He was preceded in death by his Father; Ronald Sandkamp, Grandfather; William "Bill" Sandkamp, Grandmother; Irene Sandkamp, and his beloved dogs Abby and Ace. There is no doubt he is now reunited with them, fishing and hunting with his father and grandfather, with Abby and Ace by his side – finally reeling in the 20-pound bass he always dreamed of catching.
Andrew is survived by his mother; Judy and her husband Paul, his daughter; Jessica and his two grandchildren Kaden and Brooklyn.
He was a loving son, father, grandfather, and friend. If you knew Drew, you loved him. This world has lost a beautiful soul, and he will be missed more than words can express.
