He was predeceased by: his parents, James Thomas and Evelyn Mae Knowles; and his brother James E. Knowles. He is survived by: his children, Amy Brittingham of Magnolia, DE and Ryan Knowles (Dawn); his grandchildren, Haley Knowles, Karmyn Brittingham and Zachary Wheway (Paige); and his friends, Kathy Barr, Ron, Louisa Scannell and Nardy Garrison.
