George Walter Corfield Obituary

George Walter Corfield, age 88, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

George was born in Riverside, California on November 22, 1934 and was the son of the late Walter and Belle Corfield. Preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth (1942-2023) and brother John.

He is dearly missed by daughter Chris Corfield Hubbard (Tim) daughter Lisa Corfield (Richard) son Ken Corfield (Michael), grandchildren Christopher Greene (Niki), Taylor Ollerton (Byron), Joseph Greene, Samantha Greene (Alex), and Chase Hubbard as well as three great grandchildren Wyatt, Ezra, and Virgil Greene.

George graduated with honors from Beaumont High School, as well as the University of Nevada. He served in the United States Army and was very proud to be a Veteran and to have served his Country.

George was a professional Maintenance and Operations Manager and Mining Engineer with more than 45 years of experience. He officially retired in 2014 as Maintenance Manager for the Central Arizona Project. Throughout the years he has worked for Reynolds, FMC, among others. His expertise was in problem solving, operations, cost analysis, and strategic planning. In recent years he used his skills and experience to consult companies in organizing and coaching teams to affect solutions and solve complex problems in maintenance, equipment rebuilding, mineral and chemical processing, and asset management.

George will be remembered for his fun sense of humor and the love he showed his family, pets, and friends. His wisdom, humility, and humor endeared him to a wide circle of friends and colleagues, who frequently engaged with him in philosophical and religious discussions, challenged by his insights, and inspired by his lifelong pursuit of knowledge.

Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow but remember me in every tomorrow. Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles. I've only gone to rest for a while. Although my leaving causes pain and grief, my going has eased my hurt and given me relief. So, dry your eyes and remember me, not as I am but as I used to be. Because I will remember you all and look on with a smile. Understand in your hearts, I've only gone to rest a while. As long as I have the love of you, I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.

The family would like to thank A Caring Manor assisted living facility as well as Holy Cross Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days.

Family services are pending.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Cross Hospice of Mesa.
