Gwendolyn E. Dethlefsen Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Gwendolyn E. Dethlefsen in Mesa, Arizona, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 15, 2026 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Gwendolyn leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Ernest T Rice and Nellie C. Rice; her siblings, Joanne Kella, Ken and Dean; her husband Richard Dethlefsen; her brother Ernie; and her nephews, Scott Medema (Kerri), Kevin Medema (Dana) and Ron Dethlefsen (Angela). She was also cherished by six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, she has requested a contribution be made to the Arizona Humane Society or the ASPCA.
