He was predeceased by: his parents, James Warren Pattie and Helen Ruth Wilkinson Pattie; his children, James David Pattie of Lake Forest, IL, Robin Annette Kellogg of Plymouth, MN and Christopher Read Pattie of Port Washington, NY.; and his wife Sara Mae Moffitt.

He is survived by: his sister Mary K. Wells of Ames, IA..
