JoAnn Elaine Godlevsky Obituary
In loving memory of JoAnn Elaine (Olson) Godlevsky.
With gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life of JoAnn Godlevsky, who passed away on July 23, 2026, at the age of 73.
JoAnn was born on January 7, 1953, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Milton Sr. and June (Spindler) Olson. She lived a life full of kindness, resilience, and a deep love for family and community. Through every season of life, she inspired others with her generosity, strength, and unwavering optimism.
Throughout JoAnn's life, she took great pride in being a nursing assistant for many years in Sioux City, Iowa, where she loved caring for the elderly. She later worked at Albertsons as a cashier and then as a pharmacy tech in Phoenix. JoAnn loved volunteer work at her children's schools, at the churches she attended, and as a CASA worker for the state of Arizona after her retirement in 2018. JoAnn believed in working hard, helping others, and making a positive difference wherever she could. Her achievements were matched only by the compassion she showed to everyone she met.
Above all, JoAnn treasured family. She created countless cherished memories through quilting, knitting, sewing, and cooking. She loved water aerobics, swimming, taking her son Johnnie Lee to many zoos, and taking her grandchildren to water parks, museums, and most recently, to WWE wrestling and car races. JoAnn loved spending time with her family and decorating for the holidays, with Christmas being her favorite. She leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and wisdom that will continue to guide future generations.
JoAnn is lovingly remembered by her husband, Roger; her children, Roxanne McCarty (Ron), Johnnie Lee Godlevsky, Brian Godlevsky, and Carey Harrison; her grandchildren, Steven (Allison), Tanner (Celi), and Zachary; her sisters, Terri Stolpe and Jeanne (Kenneth) Barnes; several nieces and nephews; and her extended family, Joel, Jennifer, Tyler, and Rachel Beavers.
JoAnn's influence will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we remember JoAnn, we choose to celebrate a life filled with purpose, love, and meaningful accomplishments. Though she will be deeply missed, her example reminds us to live with compassion, embrace each day, and cherish the people we love.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at AZ Korean Methodist Church, formerly Spirit of Hope Methodist Church, 14403 North 75th Avenue, Peoria, Arizona.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local humane society or that acts of kindness be performed in JoAnn's memory.
