Kathryn Leslie (McCormick) Plant Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kathryn “Kathy” Leslie (McCormick) Plant of Mesa, Arizona, born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on October 9, 2022, at the age of 72. She was surrounded by her husband, Steve Plant, daughter, Stacey Plant, and close friends. After many years of suffering discomfort associated with Sjogren’s Syndrome, an autoimmune disorder, her body and spirit are now free from pain. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Kathryn Leslie (McCormick) Plant to pay her a last tribute.
Kathy was a loving wife and mother. Throughout her life she had many close friends who she loved dearly. Kathy spent the majority of her life in Chicago. She attended and graduated from Hubbard High School. Kathy always had a deep love for animals which she shared with her husband, Steve. Together they cared for a number of dogs, cats, birds, and a variety of other animals they sometimes rescued from the street.
One of Kathy’s favorite pastimes was watching and sometimes attending Chicago Bears games with her daughter, Stacey. Together they cheered for their favorite team. Kathy was also very active in the parents’ group at Stacey’s high school. She made life-long friends with other mothers and they became known as the Bunco Babes. Together they would play bunco, share stories, eat good food, and laugh for hours. Kathy treated all her friends just like family.
Kathy and Steve moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1996. While they missed their friends and family back in Chicago, they quickly made new friends in their new community. Kathy worked at Quest Diagnostics for a few years and then Public Storage before retiring in 2010.
Kathy will be best remembered as someone who would do anything for her family and friends. She went out of her way many times to help neighbors get to appointments and make sure her family was taken care of.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 12th 2022 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Desert Mountain Park (3 Ramadas in SE Corner of Park) located at 22201 Hawes Road, Queen Creek, Arizona 85142.
