He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edna Lenora Libby and Heman Evander "Van" Griffin; his sister Nancy Nelson; his granddaughter LaRae Schindler; his siblings, Elva LeSueur and Richard Griffin (Tannis Thompson Griffin); and his siblings' children, Sarah Griffin Kanno, Camille Huber (Landon), Rachael Griffin (Matt Welker), Noel Valderrama (José), Spencer Griffin (McKenzie) and Anna Schindler (Weston).
