Maurice Milo Kendall Obituary

In Loving Memory of Maurice “Milo” Kendall Jr.
Maurice Milo Kendall Jr., affectionately known to most as Milo, passed away peacefully at his home in Mesa, Arizona, on July 30, 2026, at the age of 68.

Milo was born on October 23, 1957, in South Bend, Indiana, to Maurice Milo Kendall and Bertha A. Bishir. He spent much of his life in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, where he worked as a union painter in the Twin Cities. He graduated from North Linn High School and proudly entered the United States Army in 1976, serving for four years as a Cannon Crewman and attaining the rank of SP4.

After retiring, Milo made his home in Mesa, Arizona, where he lived for the past 14 years. He embraced the Arizona lifestyle and enjoyed the things that brought him the most happiness. He loved riding his motorcycle and was past president and member of WBMC in the Twin Cities. He also enjoyed fishing, working on projects around his home, and spending time with his beloved furry companions—especially Bobo, who remained faithfully by his side until the end.

Those who knew Milo will agree that if you met him, you never forgot him. He had a natural way of making people feel comfortable and welcomed. He was one of those genuinely likable people who could brighten a room simply by being himself. Milo was kind-hearted, generous, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Most of all, he loved his family and cherished the people and animals who were part of his life.

Milo will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Derik Kendall of Shanghai, China, and Brittney Kendall of Grants Pass, Oregon; his sister, Rita Kendall of Cape Coral, Florida; and his brothers, Tommy Hickman of North Fort Myers, Florida, Joe Hickman, and Mark Hickman of Marion, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bert Hickman; stepfather, Ora Hickman; father, Maurice “Milo” Kendall; and sister, Kay Locke of Derby, Kansas.

Milo was cremated, and his final resting place will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marion, Indiana, where he will be laid to rest in honor of his service to his country.

Milo was a one-of-a-kind person whose kindness, humor, loyalty, and love for his family will never be forgotten. He touched the lives of many, and his memory will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest peacefully, Milo. You will be missed more than words can say.
