He was predeceased by: his parents, Herminio G. Alcantar and Estela Alcantar (Trevino) of Mesa's Little Juarez; his siblings, Juanita, Gloria and Rudy; and his nephew Aaron J. Alcantar.
He is survived by: his wife Christina Munoz Alcantar; his sons, Simon (Michelle), Mario and Richard Alcantar; his grandchildren, Danity, Cristiana, Kristian and Andreas; his siblings, Herman Jr. (Debbie), David (Elizabeth), Ramon (Mona), Mary Stella Barriga (Mike) and Siboney Castillo; and his brothers-in-law, Nabor Hernandez (Juanita Alcantar) and Joe Berta (Gloria Alcantar). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
