He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Buchanan and Clara Buchanan (Cydrus); and his siblings, Julia Booher, Patty Poole and Vernon Buchanan (Bud).

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Buchanan (Schrader); his children, Terry and Mike (Susan); his grandsons, Jason Buchanan Mesa (Bridget) and Jeremy (Jodie); his uncle Hansel Cydrus (Hank); his friend Carol McCarley; and his great grandchildren, Harper, Jaxon, Anderson and Brycen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
