Stephen R Bragg Obituary
Stephen Richard Bragg, age 80, passed from this earth into our Savior's arms on July 9, 2026, after succumbing to multiple infections at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Dorcas Bragg (Walther); his brother, David Bragg; and his sister-in-law, Emily "Jane" Fletcher. He is survived by his sisters, Judith Applegate and Jean Dietz; nephews Paul Dietz, Sean Bragg, Steve Applegate, Allen Applegate, and William Applegate.
Steve left his university studies to join the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. He continued his service over the next 20 years and retired from his military career at the rank of Master Sergeant, specializing in Communication and Cryptologic Equipment Systems. He continued working in the electronic technical field in private industry thereafter.
He was frequently found helping family and friends with computer issues and assisted his church by running the sound board and recording equipment. As he became increasingly immobile, he spent much of his time reading—from non-fiction to science fiction—listening to classical music, and watching movies and certain TV series featuring NCIS and CSI.
Stephen's remains will be interred at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona, with a graveside memorial for family at a future date.
If you wish to honor Steve, we suggest a donation in his name to Life in Christ Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Peoria, Arizona, or by a gift to the Wounded Warrior Project.
