William L. Cowan Obituary

For those who need to know a little more about you….you were born in Shirleysburg, PA, August 31, 1943. You grew up in Chambersburg, PA graduating from Chambersburg High School in 1962.

You have four sisters, Bonnie Renfew, Karon Reasner (deceased), Trudy Broxson and Peggy Killinger.

Your first deer-hunting in PA was with your Dad and you brought home a deer. You loved to hunt in the hills and countryside of Pennsylvania.

You enlisted in the Air Force and served honorably for four years. That's when I met you. Fifty-four years later we still had our coffee and talks.

You worked at Honeywell for 30 years. You were an Athletic Director early in your career and you enjoyed and thrived in those years. You met and kept friends from this long-ago era.

When you retired you devoted yourself to the Arizona Diamondbacks and collected hundreds and hundreds of their bobble heads.

You leave behind William Cowan, III, James Cowan and Theodore Cowan (deceased). You also leave behind our granddaughter Chelsea Probasco Cowan and our great granddaughter Rylie Born.

You were a kind and gentle spirit. You walked lightly on this earth. You enjoyed life to the fullest. Golf, softball, bowling, AZ Diamondbacks, AZ Cardinals. Phoenix Suns.

I love you my Bill. Enjoy your new hunting grounds. Go see your Dad, Mom, and our dear son Ted. And help me, Billy and Jimmy when our turn comes to join you. Grab us by the hand and pull us across the river. I love you.

Lisa Freeman Meyers wrote a sympathy message

“We remember Uncle Bill as a very warm and loving very tall & strong man. He was so kind to us and always open armed for a hug with an intense gaze from his blue eyes into ours while we met up saying hellos and goodbyes at gatherings. There were many an interesting exchange and just a pure feeling of acceptance when we were with him. May you have everlasting peace and rest well, Uncle Bill. Lovingly , Nephew Jerome F Meyers Jr., Jerome III, & Lisa A Meyers”
