He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Pia and Shirley Pia of Berlin; and his sister Andrea Pia Smith of Berlin, CT.. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Ventres Pia; his daughter Angela Pia Chafee; his son-in-law Jared Chafee of Burlington, CT; and his granddaughters, Ava and Emma. He is also survived by friends, in-laws, and nieces and nephews.
